Type III Historic Resource Review hearing for proposed exterior alterations to the Historic Landmark Selling Building. Proposed alterations to the ground floor will restore the building to its historic early 1930s-era façade, and proposed alterations to the second floor will restore the second floor to its original historic design. These alterations include replacing existing granite cladding, storefronts, and windows on the building's ground floor and second floor with new polished black granite cladding, new storefronts, and new awnings at the ground floor and installing new wood windows and terra cotta cladding on the second floor (GFRC cladding is proposed as an alternate design). A sign band is proposed above the new storefronts and will be composed of black, back-painted glass with bronze lettering and decorative trim. The existing historic storefront at Spella Caffè will remain, as will portions of the lobby entry to the Selling Building. A Modification to the Maximum Sign Area standard is proposed.
