The Residential Combination Permit package is only for projects involving one- or two-family dwelling units.

This package streamlines the permit process for projects involving structural or building work, as well as trade work.

You can also use your IVR number ↗. IVR has seven numbers, while the permit number has 15 characters.

How it works

  • Submit trade applications with your building permit application: Submit your completed trade permit ↗ applications with your building permit application (with all required forms and plans) on DevHub ↗. We will process your permits together as a "Residential Combination Permit" package.

    • Use these trade permit applications:
  • Need to submit trade permits later? Send your trade permit applications to PPDTradePermits@portlandoregon.gov.
Include your building permit number or IVR number. You can submit the trade permit application while the building permit is in the following statuses:

    • Under review

    • Approved to issue

    • Issued

    • Under inspection

  • Unified inspections: The main benefit is that all necessary inspections for the project can be scheduled using a single permit (or IVR) number associated with the combined permit.

  • Streamlined payment: You can pay the fees for all permits included in the package at one time.

When to use it

  • Projects with trade work: The combo permit is ideal for projects that require a building permit and also involve mechanical, electrical, or plumbing work.
